Jim Heffernan
Assistant Professor, Ecosystem Ecology and Ecohydrology
Division of Environmental Sciences & Policy
PhD, Arizona State University, 2007
BA, Cornell University, 2000
Heffernan's experience lies in streams, rivers, and wetlands and is focused on three areas: nutrient cycling and ecosystem productivity; disturbance and resilience; and ecosystem responses to urbanization. What unites these lines of research is an emphasis on major changes in the structure and function of ecosystems over time. Current study sites include spring-fed rivers of North Florida, the wetlands of the Florida Everglades, and urban water bodies in cities across the US.
