Van Houtan's experience lies in interdisciplinary analyses to understand and prevent the processes leading to the loss of species and natural systems, through: (i) designing geospatial models of long-term ecological, satellite, and climate indicators; (ii) developing sustainable data streams, research infrastructures, and scientific leadership; and (iii) understanding moral formation in science and in non-scientific communities.
