Jennifer E. Hurtgen

Project Planner II

Jennifer Hurtgen is the project coordinator for the Developing Consultation and Collaboration Skills (DCCS) professional development program. DCCS aims to improve student literacy and engagement outcomes by offering high-impact instructional strategies, encouraging collaboration between ESL and classroom teachers, and incorporating cultural wealth into the classroom.

Hurtgen joined the Center for Child and Family Policy in June 2019. Previously, she was a data coordinator for the Add Health project at the Carolina Population Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her Master of Education from UNC-Greensboro and Bachelor of Science in psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill. As a former kindergarten teacher and research assistant at Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute, she brings both literacy instruction and research coordination experience to the DCCS project.
