Alison H. Gusberg

Project Coordinator

Ali Gusberg is the project coordinator for the study on the Development and Prevention of Substance Abuse Problems, a project incorporating data gathered from participants of both the Fast Track project and the Child Development Project. The study will test models of the development and prevention of three interrelated antisocial problems in young adulthood: violence, substance abuse and risky sexual behavior. Gusberg is in charge of generally overseeing the project, including supervising interviewers, managing data and coordinating interviews and contact with participants.

Gusberg received her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Brown University, where she worked as a researcher on a number of psychology projects aimed at preventing the development of maladaptive behavior among youth. After graduation, she worked in a basic science research laboratory at Duke’s Institute for Genome Sciences and Policy, studying the genetic and epigenetic underpinnings of ovarian cancer.

Gusberg attended medical school at UNC for one year before deciding to pursue a track more in line with psychology and public health, as she intends to focus her work on programs and interventions geared toward at-risk youth.
