Rebecca T Stern

Classroom Coach

Becky Stern holds a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Brown University and started her career teaching high school English. Her first position at the Center for Child and Family Policy was as senior schools specialist for the G.R.E.A.T. Schools and Families project from 2000 to 2003. Stern then went to innovation Research & Training, where she worked on a NIDA-funded grant to develop, pilot and implement a substance abuse prevention curriculum for 3rd-5th graders with a media literacy focus. She happily returned to the Center to work for Leslie Babinski on the America's Promise project, which gave her the chance to interview educators and civic leaders in five American cities about their initiatives to reduce their city's high school dropout rate.

Having obtained her Masters of Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill in 2010, she returned once more to the Center to be a teacher trainer for the Incredible Years Study, with Desiree Murray as primary investigator. Stern then became a teacher trainer for Communities in Schools of Durham, coaching preK teachers of exceptional children classrooms in The Incredible Years classroom management program. Stern is delighted to be back at the Center as an Incredible Years teacher coach, working for Katie Rosanbalm and Christina Christopoulos on the Incredible Years Dinosaur School project.
