    Abstract:
    This is the first retrospective exhibition devoted to French Ralph Eugene Meatyard (1925-1972), visionary genius whose work deeply influenced American photography of the 1960 and 1970. Also presented for the first time in France, surrealist works of Clarence John Laughlin (1905-1985), where the ghostly image of the woman unfolds on the ruins of a disappearing world, the plantations and graveyards of the New Orleans in 1940 and 1950.Second part of this exploration of "Deep South", the works of CJ Laughlin will be compared with those of contemporary photographer Alex Harris, an approach to the elusive city Louisiana, convened under the evocative title New Orleans: ruin, myth, chaos. The color documentary work of Alex Harris, conducted in March 2006 for his sublime traces left by the disruption of Hurricane Katerina in August 2005 on the Louisiana coast and in the devastated neighborhoods of New Orleans.
