    Highlight:

    Dr. Vicki Bogan's research interests are in the areas of household finance, inequality, and applied microeconomics centering on issues involving investment decision making behavior and financial markets. She explores questions relating to investment decision making and household portfolio allocation with the goals of shedding light on how to better model observed behavior and helping to shape policy.  Dr. Bogan is a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research.

    Prior to joining the faculty at Duke, Dr. Bogan was a professor at Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business.  She also previously served as the Chair of the Academic Research Council for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and she was a founding Co-Editor of Financial Planning Review.

    Dr. Bogan's impactful research has been published in leading economics and finance journals. She has testified before the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services on the gamification of finance. Further, she is frequently quoted and cited in various media outlets including Barrons.com, Bloomberg.com, CNBC.com, Forbes.com, MarketWatch, NPR's Marketplace Tech, PsychologyToday.com, USA Today, U.S. News & World Report, Wall Street Journal.com, Yahoo! Money, and the PBS News Hour – Paul Solman's Making Sense.  Dr. Bogan was also featured in the Netflix Documentary, "Eat the Rich: The GameStop Saga."

    Dr. Bogan has received two outstanding educator awards from Cornell University and the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Bogan holds a Sc.B. degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Brown University, an M.B.A. in Finance and Strategic Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A. in Economics from Brown University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University. She also has held visiting fellow appointments at Princeton University and Yale University.
