Gary Hawkins is a visiting lecturer at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University. He has taught non-fiction filmmaking at the Center for the last six years, and directing for nine years at the NCSA School of Filmmaking. Gary is a Sundance Fellow, a contributing writer to the Oxford American Magazine and a winner of the Emmy Award. His recent productions include two narrative features, “Elroy Nights” and “Shotgun Stories”, and two ongoing documentaries, “The Rough South of Larry Brown” and “What Hollywood Did to the South.”
