Rosalía specializes in Latin American modern and contemporary art, with a focus on Mexico. Her research interests include transnational artist networks, border visual cultures, and the intersection of art and social movements. She is currently working on her dissertation, tentatively entitled “Anarquismo fronterizo: Transamerican Anarchism and Visual Culture in Mexico, 1892-1934.” The project examines how anarchist artists, writers, and activists in Mexico created expansive transnational networks and global projects through radical images that challenged nationhood, borders, and modernity. Born in Mexicali, Mexico and raised across the border in El Centro, Rosalía holds a B.A. (honors) in Communication Studies from the University of California, San Diego. She wrote her thesis on transborder art collectives and collaboration between Mexicali, Mexico and Calexico, California. Before starting her Ph.D at Duke, Rosalía worked at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). In 2013, she was the invited curator for Arte Nuevo InteractivA in Mérida, Mexico.
