    Abstract:
Permeations of commonly used glove materials by polynuclear aromatic (PNA) compounds in hydrocarbon fuels were measured with solid state dosemeters composed of filter paper. The permeated PNA were sorbed by the filter paper and analysed in situ using room temperature phosphorescence spectroscopy. This technique provided a simple, cost effective, and very sensitive means of measuring breakthrough times and permeation rates of the class of potentially carcinogenic PNA in liquid fuels derived from crude petroleum, oil shale, and coal
