    Abstract:
The fluorescence spectrum of pyrene oriented in a pseudo-monocrystalline matrix of n-heptane has been studied at 8 K. Quasilinear and polarized emission emanates predominantly from a single site having its 0-0 transition at 26926 cm-1. A vibrational analysis involving all 10 a1g and 5 of the b1g modes of type ω and δ is given. The polarized data allow a straight-forward identification of the vibrations involving one quantum of the non-totally symmetric vibration. © 1976.
