Abstract: There is an increasing need to develop rapid, simple, cost-effective sensor devices for screening multiple pathogens for homeland defense applications. With its multifunctional capability, the multifunctional biochip (MFB) is a unique system that allows simultaneous detection of multiple biotargets simultaneously. Such a device could provide information on both gene mutation (with DNA probes) and gene expression (with antibody probes against proteins) simultaneously.
