Research Interests
Professor Lochmüller was an analytical chemist whose research emphasis of three decades had been in the area of chemical separations. The search for fundamental understanding of separation mechanisms in his group has included studies of the organization and dynamics of chemically bound molecules at silica surfaces by photophysical methods, spectroscopy in supercritical fluids and applications of chemometric modeling. New technologies that have sprung from his research include magnetically stabilized, fluidized-bed enzyme reactor and new forms of iso-electric focusing electrophoresis patents. Most recent work had been in a new approach to efficient ion-exchange separation and purification of oligonucleitides.
