Overview:

As an anthropologist and dancer, I am interested in the interrelationship between bodies, cultural practices, politics and ethnographic writing.  My research explores expressive culture of the African Diaspora with a focus on Brazil and Angola. My book,  Capoeira Connections: a memoir in motion (UPF 2023) is a multi-sited auto-ethnography of my thirty-year involvement as a practitioner and researcher of Afro-Brazilian capoeira.  See my website for more information: www.katyawesolowski.com
