| Curtis R. Taylor, Professor![]() Curtis R. Taylor joined the Department of Economics faculty at Duke University as a professor in 2000. In 2003, he became the Director of Graduate Studies until 2006 and an instructor for the American Economic Association summer program until 2007. Before beginning his career at Duke, he was an associate professor of economics at Texas A&M University from 1996-2000. Professor Taylor earned his Ph.D. in economics from Yale University in 1992, and graduated magna cum laude from Washington University in 1986, with a B.A. in economics. Professor Taylor specializes in the subjects of industrial organization, game theory, contract theory, and political economy. He has won grants for his research from NSF on four occasions, and also from the State of Texas Advanced Research Program, The Bush Program in Public Policy at Texas A&M, and from the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Research Initiative. Professor Taylor has published the findings from his research in a number of leading academic journals. His recent work, completed in collaboration with Huseyin Yildirim, is entitled, “Public Information and Electoral Bias” appeared in Games and Economic Behavior. His writings have also been published in the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, the Journal of Industrial Economics, the RAND Journal of Economics, Public Choice, the American Economic Review, and others. Professor Taylor has publicized his findings and ideas through presentations at seminars and conferences as well. He has attended over twenty conferences throughout the world, including the Industrial Organization Conference in Hong Kong in 2008. He has also spoken at universities across the nation, including Stanford, Boston, Yale, Virginia, and many others. He has also traveled internationally to speak at Sabanci University in Istanbul, the University of Copenhagen, the University of Zurich, and the European University Institute in Florence. Along with his teaching and research, Professor Taylor holds various other professional positions. He is a member of the American Economic Association, the Econometric Society, and the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics. He is currently an associate editor for the Journal of Industrial Economics, the RAND Journal of Economics, the B.E. Journals of Theoretical Economics and the B.E. Journals of Economic Analysis and Policy. In addition to these responsibilities, he has also been the thesis advisor for over ten graduate students’ doctorate committees. When he is not fulfilling his professional responsibilities, Professor Taylor enjoys running and taking part in marathons, and spending time with his wife and three children
