Stephanie Schmitt-Grohe is a professor of economics in the Department of Economics at Duke University. She is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a research affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research. Currently, Dr. Schmitt-Grohe serves as an associate editor of the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking and the Journal of the European Economic Association and is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Macroeconomics. Before joining Duke in 2003, she taught at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and was an economist in the Division of Monetary Affairs at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Dr. Schmitt-Grohe has held visiting positions at the European Central Bank, Goethe University in Frankfurt, and Princeton University. Her research and writings have primarily focused on macroeconomic issues, in particular monetary and fiscal policy. She received her doctorate in economics in 1994 from the University of Chicago.
