the political economy of budgeting
Dr. Leachman earned her Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina. She has held faculty positions at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Winthrop University, and a tenured faculty position at Northern Arizona University. She has worked as a legal consultant as well as a consultant to the urban development office of the city of Charlotte. Dr. Leachman has published on such topics as capital mobility, capital market integration, exchange rates, optimium corporate capital structure, intertemporal fiscal and external balance and Ricardian equivalence. These publications have appeared in such journals as the Journal of Macroeconomics, Economic Inquiry, Applied Economics, Applied Financial Economics, Journal of International Money and Finance, and Open Economies Review. She is currently working on the political economy of intertemporal budgeting and has a paper forthcoming in Economic Inquiry on this topic.
Dr. Leachman teaches undergraduate courses in introductory and intermediate macroeconomics, money and banking, global capital markets, and international economics.
