Dr. Li-Chen Chin is Assistant Vice President for Intercultural Programs in Student Affairs and adjunct instructor in Program in Education. She has over two decades of experience in higher education administration. She is responsible for providing leadership for the development, implementation, and assessment of intercultural programs and services in support of the strategic plan of Student Affairs and the global mission of the University.  She oversees the operations of the Center for Multicultural Affairs, International House, and Muslim Life at Duke, and is the main contact on undocumented student issues. She also serves as a College Advisor for Trinity College of Arts and Sciences.

Prior to join Duke, Dr. Chin was Associate Dean of International Programs at Bryn Mawr College. She created the position to promotes, coordinate, and administer international activities throughout the institution. She also co-facilitated Bryn Mawr-Haverford-Swarthmore Summer Institute for first-year students on multicultural identity and leadership. Dr. Chin also worked with international students, scholars, and their families at the University of Pennsylvania, Michigan State University, and the University of Oregon.

Dr. Chin received her B.A. in music from National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei and her M.M. and Ph.D. in music education from the University of Oregon in Eugene. Previously she taught at Bryn Mawr College and the University of Oregon. Her main interests are multicultural education, global education, institutional change, and most recently, Asians/Americans in higher education.
