Research Interests:
Assistant Professor of Literature and Romance Studies (Spanish), received her Ph.D. from Columbia in 1995 in Spanish and Comparative Literature. She has written essays on Spanish American and Brazilian literature from the colonial period to the present. Her current research focusses on the Caribbean. She is working on a book about the beginnings of literary cultures in the nineteenth-century Caribbean, and a documentary film about the Haitian Revolution of 1791-1804 and its cultural and political impact. She regularly teaches courses (in English and Spanish) on nineteenth-century literatures, and cultural and aesthetic theory. Recent Publications (More Publications)
