Abstract:
Transmission of 10-Gb/s nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ) signal over 200 km conventional single-mode fiber without any dispersion compensation was discussed. A bias control technique involving simultaneous charge of α parameter of an LiNbO3 modulator (LN-MOD) and the extinction ratio was used. It was found that when the bias is shifted and the modulated voltage on the LN-MOD is fixed the chirp and the ER are changed simultaneously.
