Abstract:
In this lecture, I discuss how the RHIC data are challenging our theoretical understanding of QCD matter. Important components of this challenge include how equilibrated QCD matter is formed, whether its statistical and dynamical properties permit a quasi-particle description, and what its transport properties are.
