Abstract:
The net-baryon multiplicity density distributions in Au + Au collisions were calculated at 130 and 200 GeV center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair. The parton cascade model predicted a net-baryon excess at midrapidity in Au + Au collisions, which was in agreement with measured values. The transport of partons to midrapidity, caused by rescattering among partons, was found to increase the net-baryon number density.
