Abstract:
Response functions to photons in the energy range of 4.4-26.6 MeV have been obtained for a 7.6 × 7.6 cm BGO scintillator surrounded by a 5.1 cm thick well-type anticoincident shield. An AmBe source and various (p, γ) reactions provided the gamma-rays. The energy resolutions obtained varied from 8.4% (fwhm) at Eγ = 4.4 MeV to 6.6% at 21.0 MeV. The efficiency of the system has been determined by using the 12C(p, γ)13N reaction near Ep(Eγ) = 14.24 (15.07) MeV. In addition, the response function has been obtained for 18 MeV gamma-rays from the 40Ca(n, γ)41Ca reaction using 10 MeV neutrons produced via the 2H(d, n)3He reaction. © 1985.
