Research Description: I am interested in the creation, detection, and manipulation of quantum systems, especially those well suited to applications in the areas of quantum communication and quantum computation. It has been demonstrated recently that quantum systems lead to novel methods for transmitting, protecting, and processing information. Such systems have the potential for outperforming all known classical techniques for specific problems. In many cases classical system limits have been reached leaving the development of quantum systems as the only method for advancing these technologies. Quantum systems are already redefining the ways we interact with and transmit information.
