Research Categories: A New Search for Neutron Electric Dipole Moment
Research Description: A non-zero value for the electric dipole moment (EDM) corresponds to an infinitesimal separation of positive and negative charges within the neutron along the spin axis. The possible existence of a nonzero EDM of the neutron is of great fundamental interest and directly impacts our understanding of the nature of electro-weak and strong interactions. A new method is being carried out to precisely measure the magnitude of the neutron EDM or to lower the current experimental limit by one to two orders.
