Research Scientist
Liz Snyder is trained as an experimental psychologist, with a focus on cognitive development. Currently, she serves as the Principal Investigator for a five year grant that will develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive family assessment to improve child welfare outcomes in Alamance County.
Liz also conducts evaluation research for a System of Care (SOC) infrastructure grant awarded to the North Carolina Division of Social Services. This project is evaluating whether a community-based, interagency System of Care can achieve positive outcomes for children and families involved with the child welfare system.
Prior to coming to the Center she was a post-doctoral fellow at the FPG Child Development Institute, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During that time her research and training experiences involved both the Carolina Interdisciplinary Large-Scale Policy Research Training and the National Early Intervention Longitudinal Study (NEILS).
Additional research interests include understanding how temperament and parent-child interactions influence attention development and achievement in high-risk populations.
