Katherine Burgett

Katherine Burgett is a Ph.D. candidate in the Graduate Program in Religion (New Testament track, Old Testament and Reception History minors). Her dissertation, entitled "In Slavery With God's Children: The Law as Enslaved Agent in Galatians," examines Paul's slavery metaphors for the Law in Galatians in their first-century contexts. Katherine is currently teaching Hellenistic Greek and Greek Exegesis of Galatians at Duke Divinity School. She has also assisted with teaching introductory Old and New Testament courses, as well as a multi-disciplinary, interreligious course called Religion, Restrictions, Violence, and she worked several semesters as the Bible tutor in Duke Divinity's Center for Writing and Academic Support. Katherine has completed Duke's Preparing Future Faculty Fellowship and Bass Digital Education Fellowship. She is also in the process of completing Duke's Certificate in College Teaching.

Katherine holds an M.Div. from Duke Divinity School and a B.A. in Religious Studies and English from Westmont College. She is in the ordination process in the PC(USA), and has spent time serving as the Christian Education Director at Newton Park Methodist Church in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. She is currently the Interim Youth Ministry Associate at Blacknall Memorial Presbyterian Church.
