Lucas Lopes

Lucas Lopes holds a Bachelor’s degree in Portuguese from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and a Master’s degree in Literary Theory and History also from UNICAMP. In 2019 he was a Visiting Research fellow in the Emerging Leaders of the Americas program at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. He has previously specialized in William Faulkner’s portrayal of the American South, with increasing exploration of linkages to the Global South. From 2016 to 2018, he served as a secretary to ANPOLL (Brazil’s National Association for Graduate Studies and Research in Languages, Literature, and Linguistics). He has also been a member of the UNICAMP’s Research Center OUTRARTE, which explores psychoanalysis in relation to science and arts. His current research explores the achievements, contradictions, and current explanatory potentialities of Latin American critical theories. His interests include Brazilian intellectual history, the circulation of ideas in Latin America, Literary Theory, Modernism, Marxism, Frankfurt School, Postcolonial Studies, Psychoanalysis, the relationship between literature and other arts, and aesthetics theories.
