   Abstract:
   Sorokin is one of the major and most prolific theorist of the 20th Century, in particular regarding social change. He viewed large-scale civilizational change in terms of broad cycles subject to a "principle of limits". He also made significant contributions to study of social mobility, revolution, and altruism.
