  1. Edward A. Tiryakian, "Three Levels of Teaching Durkheim", in Teaching Durkheim, edited by Terry F. Godlove, Jr. (Spring, 2005), pp. 29-50, Oxford University Press
    (last updated on 2005/06/07)

    Abstract:
Rather than a unidimensional way of teaching Durkheim to American students, it may be more pedagogically sound (and exciting) to make him relevant at three levels of instruction. The first is for introductory courses in sociologym, the second at substantive intermediate levels (e.g., in the sociology of religion or in criminology, etc.), and the third for advanced graduate students. The essay spells out the rationale for each level.
