My research focuses on the social determinants of health and how cumulative exposure to disadvantage shapes inequalities in disease onset and survival. As a medical sociologist and social epidemiologist, I am interested in (i) the impact of race and socioeconomic status on chronic disease and mortality over the life course, (ii) the role of social stressors in the development and progression of cardiovascular disease, and (iii) aging and longevity in an international context.
