My current research examines African American reverse migration to the urban South.  I analyze how the meanings of social identities and place matter along with the social network and economic processes that shape the migration.  I also compare the cultural, social, and economic experiences of migration between middle-class and working-class migrants and between male and female migrants.  This project is part of my broader research interest in social stratification, especially its cultural and spatial dimensions.
