Research Interests: 20th Century, Criticism, Feminist Theory, Comp Lit, and Arabic

She has travelled and researched in Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco and Syria. Her first book dealt with the writings of one of Egypt's leading intellectuals of the 20th century, Yahya Haqqi. Subsequently, her interests turned to the writings of women, especially those that deal with issues of war and gender in the postcolonial Arab world. Her recently published book, Women Claim Islam, analyzes the discourse of Islamic feminists.
