I am a fourth year graduate student in Duke University’s History Department and I focus on the history of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Germany. I am interested in reform efforts to discipline religion and behavior, and their impact on gender and the family in German society. My dissertation examines gender, work, and the household economy in the context of the post-Reformation period of confessionalization and economic decline. In October 2013, I will begin a ten-month research stay in Germany with the support of a fellowship through the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst.
