Abstract: The recently completed Le Pont de Normandie bridge, like virtually every large bridge is a distinct solution to a unique engineering problem and, in a larger historical context, Everybridge. Prior to the construction of the bridge, several problems that need serious consideration emerged. One of these problems is the site of the bridge which is a major shipping channel. Introducing piers into the water not only would have posed obstacles to ocean-going vessels but also would have promoted the accumulation of sand. In view of this, a cable-stayed design was chosen as a solution. By addressing questions relating to the aerodynamic stability of the bridge, the project proceeded as expected.
