Ashton W. Merck,

Ashton W. Merck

I am an historian of the modern United States who studies the intersection of law, business, politics, and public health. My dissertation analyzes the evolving scientific, technical, and legal challenges in food safety and international trade over the past half-century. My research agenda is also deeply informed by an interest in collaborative and interdisciplinary research; I have pursued projects with legal scholars and environmental scientists. My primary advisor is Professor Edward Balleisen; I also work closely with Professor Margaret Humphreys

For the 2017-2018 year, I am a Graduate Fellow in the Mellon Sawyer Seminar on Corporations and International Law.
