Research Interests
Having recently passed prelims, I am now beginning my dissertation research. I am studying the army in Ptolemaic Egypt, from the 3rd century BC to the 1st century. The Ptolemaic army has generally been viewed as a failed military institution. I am investigating that view and its underlying assumptions about successful military institutions and appropriate military activities.
