October 12, 2011 - Mi Gente Dinner and Movie: Voces Inocentes: Dinner and a Movie with Mi Gente: Voces Inocentes-7:00pm, Center for Multicultural Affairs Lounge (Innocent Voices)
The final movie in the series, Innocent Voices tells the story of a young boy who is caught up in a dramatic fight for his life as he tries to avoid the war raging all around him. Set in the Salvadorian Civil War in 1980, the film shows the injustice against people forced to fight in wars.

Third in series, this film centers on the journey of a young boy across the US/Mexico border to reunite with his mother, who is working undocumented in the United States hoping to one day send for her son.

September 26, 2011 - Mi Gente Dinner and Movie: Paraiso Travel: Mi Gente Dinner and a Movie: Paraiso Travel, 7:45pm, Center for Multicultural Affairs Lounge 
Adapted from Jorge Franco's acclaimed novel of the same title, we bring you the story of a young Colombian man who flees his comfy life with girlfriend, traveling through Guatemala, and Mexico and into the US. Paraiso Travel lifts the veil of the immigrant dream and shows the harsh reality of immigrant life.

Translators & Interpreters Needed at EK Powe Elementary: EK POWE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEEDS YOUR HELP!
EK Powe Elementary School (located near Duke's East Campus) is looking for Spanish speakers to assist with interpretation and translation work throughout the school year. 
On SEPTEMBER 15, EK Powe needs about 6 students to sign up for interpretation and translation work in the evening (5:30-7)  for a classroom event. Free pizza will be served.

Volunteer opportunity for Spanish-speaking students/volunteers: Dress for Success is an organization dedicated to helping low income women looking for employment. They are currently looking for Bilingual (Spanish and English speaking) volunteers to help Hispanic clients at Dress for Success. Weekday hours are needed - Tuesdays & Thursdays 10-4 and Fridays 10-1. Located in downtown Durham in Northgate Mall.
