I am a sixth year graduate student. I will graduate with a Ph.D. in mathematics in May 2014. I will also receive a Certificate in College Teaching when I graduate. I graduated from Marietta College in Marietta, OH with a B.S. degree with majors in mathematics and physics in May 2008. I earned a M.A. degree in mathematics from Duke University in May 2010. I passed my preliminary examination in October 2011. I am presently working on my doctoral thesis in mathematics.

I am presently working on a fluid dynamics project; specifically, I look at how asymptotic analysis can yield insight into the behavior of solutions to the PDE and corresponding steady-state ODE that arise in the study of certain thin film problems. I also use C++ to construct numerical solutions to these PDE and ODE using finite difference schemes. Such simulations prove useful both as a check on the validity of any asymptotic results obtained and as a tool in helping to find and determine the nature of various interesting asymptotic limits.
