Research Summary:
My research interests include the role of peer relationships in the development of social competence and psychological adjustment. I am currently involved in two lines of research: (1) a comprehensive study of peer relationships among middle childhood girls, including the causes and consequences of peer rejection/victimization, and family factors related to girls' use of relational aggression; and (2) through Duke's Trans-Disciplinary Prevention Center at the Center for Child and Family Policy, research on the dynamics of adolescent social networks and the role of peer influence processes in the development of early substance use and antisocial behavior.
