   Abstract:
   The apparent size of a visual afterimage increases in proportion with the distance at which that image is viewed; this is Emmert’s law. Contrary to Emmert’s law for afterimages, this paper reports that the apparent size of a mentally imaged object decreases monotonically with increases in the distance of the viewing surface. © 1979, The Psychonomic Society, Inc..
