Abstract: These studies generally support the use of the SSRIs fluvoxamine, sertraline, and fluoxetine in the acute treatment of pediatric non-OCD anxiety disorders. Two large multicenter studies suggest a favorable outcome for paroxetine in the treatment of pediatric social anxiety disorder. Mixed results currently exist for the use of extended-release venlafaxine in the treatment of pediatric generalized anxiety disorder. In both of these latter studies, concerns with safety were present.
