    Abstract:
Electrocardiographic body surface potential maps (BSPM) utilizing 180 active dry electrodes embedded in the inflatable vest were obtained in 39 normal children, 36 children with varying degrees of right bundle branch block (RBBB), and 13 children with atrial septal defect (ASD). The QRS of the BSPM is displayed every 2 ms and the ST-T every 6 ms, with quantification of magnitudes in microvolts, color scaled. The onset of right ventricular (RV) epicardial breakthrough in the normals was always recognized, averaging 25.1 ms. It was also present in ASD, though delayed, averaging 32.0 ms. In no case of RBBB was it seen, allowing differentiation of RV hypertrophy with terminal right conduction delay (ASD) from partial RBBB. In advanced RBBB, analysis indicated inefficient use of the Purkinje system. After delayed onset of RV activation, another 103 ms is needed for completion
