    Abstract:
Electrophysiological and histological studies show that all intracellular space of cardiac tissue is interconnected through low resistance gap junctions. This paper examines the current flow patterns that arise, given an initial isochrone shape, as a function of the anisotropy parameters, for a two-dimensional bidomain. Except for the case where the intracellular and interstitial anisotropy ratios are equal the results contrast sharply with that extrapolated from one-dimensional experience
