    Abstract:
A numerical atmospheric model is used to evaluate the impact of landscape heterogeneities created by various topographical features and land-surface sensible heat flux on turbulent and mesoscale heat and momentum fluxes in the atmospheric planetary boundary layer (PBL). These simulations emphasize the importance of land-surface heterogeneity on the PBL and the need to provide high resolution data sets of land-surface characteristics for atmospheric models. Probably, remote sensing is the only realistic method to obtain these data sets
