    Abstract:
The chapter discusses the frequency domain analysis approach to the dynamic analysis of offshore structures. For a single wave height spectrum and a transfer function relating the wave height to structural loading, the statistical responses of the structure are calculated directly. The analysis is limited to a linear structure with a single independent coordinate describing the motion. The root-mean-square (rms) value of the coordinate is deduced for a single spectrum, stationary wave excitation, a response analogous to a steady-state response in the time domain. Results are then interpreted in a statistical sense.
