    Abstract:
While providing a survey of the whole field of energy conversion and control, this book stimulates the individual to think creatively and inventively about energy technology. With an eye toward developing an `energy future', the authors discuss the energy crisis, energy sources and uses, thermodynamics, engineering approaches to energy conversion, nuclear and fossil fuel plants plus transportable energy sources and energy storage system. The problems and potential of new energy technologies are also explored, including solar, geothermal, wind and tidal energies. Of interest to many students and practising engineers as well, the book is a good reference on energy technology, with an excellent balance between breadth and depth of subject. Others will be interested in this book for the background necessary to understand and converse knowledgeably about this vital subject
