    Abstract:
    The cooling scheme under consideration consists of a conducting support cooled discretely by a stream of helium vapour generated by the cold end conduction heat leak (self-sufficient operation, mhfg=q0). The magnitude of the 4.2K heat leak and thus the boil-off rate is greatly influenced by the spatial distribution of the cooling stations along the conducting member. The objective of this note is to present the spatial distribution which minimizes the cold end heat leak. The design of discretely cooled structural supports is also discussed
