Aeroelastic stability of infinitely long panel of finite width with upper surface exposed to inviscid flow is examined; panel behavior is accounted for by small deflection plate theory, whereas aerodynamic forces acting on panel are described by classical linearized, potential theory; extensive numerical results have been obtained for flutter velocity (and dynamic pressure) indicating effects of Mach number, air/panel mass ratio, and viscous structural damping; comparison of results with those obtained by previous investigators for long, narrow panel (using more elaborate method that accounts for finite length) shows some discrepancy between two results.
