    Abstract:
    The high-frequency response of a plate carrying a concentrated mass under random forces has been studied. An approximate expression for the local response of the concentrated mass has been developed as the asymptotic limit of component modal analysis by using asymptotic modal analysis (AMA). It is shown that the normalized response of the concentrated mass depends on the ratio of the plate mass per unit area times wavelength squared to the value of the concentrated mass. The approximate expression becomes more accurate as the number of plate modes of interest increases. Experimental results also show that the approximate expression is valid and useful for predicting the response of a concentrated mass attached to a plate
